十月、ロサンゼルスを拠点とする重要な詩人、デボラ・メドーズ（Deborah Meadows）さんが初めて来日します。12冊以上の詩集を出版しているメドーズさんは、アメリカを代表する実験的現代詩人です。日本での初登場にあたり、「危機」をテーマに、青柳菜摘さん、小磯洋光さん、そしてコーリー・ウェイクリングさんが、メドーズさんと共に日英での詩の朗読や考えを交えた対談を行います。ぜひ、素晴らしい詩人メドーズさんと触れ合える貴重な機会をお見逃しなく、ご来場ください。

In October, the important Los Angeles-based poet Deborah Meadows will make her first visit to Japan. Author of more than twelve collections of poetry, Meadows is a representative experimental poet of her generation. For her first appearance in Japan, she will be joined by Natsumi Aoyagi, Hiromitsu Koiso, and Corey Wakeling for a dialogue on poetry and the theme of “crisis”, including readings in both English and Japanese. Deborah Meadows

デボラ・メドーズはニューヨーク州バッファロー市に生まれた。SUNY Buffalo（ニューヨーク州立大学バッファロー）で哲学と英文学を専攻して卒業後、カリフォルニアに移り、長年にわたり教育に従事した。現在はカリフォルニア州立工科大学ポモナの名誉教授であり、夫とともにロサンゼルスのアーツディストリクト／リトルトーキョー地区に暮らしている。その作品は実験的な詩として広く知られ、十冊以上の詩集を刊行している。近刊には、『Bumblebees』（Roof, NYC）、『Neo-bedrooms』（Shearsman）、全十二部からなる長詩『Lecture Notes』（BlazeVOX [books]）、そして『The Demotion of Pluto: Poems and Plays』（BlazeVOX [books]）がある。

Deborah Meadows grew up in Buffalo, NY. After graduating from SUNY, Buffalo in Philosophy and English, she moved to California where she taught for many years. She is an Emerita faculty member at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, lives with her husband in Los Angeles’ Arts District/Little Tokyo. Her work is noted as experimental poetry, and she has published over a dozen books of poetry, most recently Bumblebees (Roof, NYC), Neo-bedrooms (Shearsman), Lecture Notes, a duration poem in twelve parts (BlazeVOX [books]), and The Demotion of Pluto: Poems and Plays (BlazeVOX [books]). 青柳菜摘（Natsumi Aoyagi）

1990年東京都生まれ。東京都拠点。2016年東京藝術大学大学院映像研究科メディア映像専攻修了。映像メディアを用いた同時代芸術のアーティストとして、フィールドワークやリサーチをもとに、プロジェクトベースに主題を立て作品を発表している。作者自身の経験を表現する方法論として、観察、記録、物語、詩文を手がかりにタイムベースト・メディアの可能性を探究している。詩集『そだつのをやめる』（thoasa、2022年）が第28回中原中也賞を受賞。「コ本や honkbooks」主宰。2022年、National Museum of Women in the Arts（NMWA日本委員会）による第７回「Women to Watch」候補に選出された。http://datsuo.com/

Born in Tokyo in 1990, Aoyagi lives and works in Tokyo. She completed a master’s degree program in New Media at the Graduate School of Film and New Media, Tokyo University of the Arts in 2016. As a contemporary artist who works with visual media, Aoyagi presents project-based thematic works grounded in fieldwork and research. She explores the possibilities of time-based media as a methodology for expressing her own experiences, using observation, documentation, narrative, and poetry as footholds. Her collection of poetry, Sodatsu no wo Yameru [Done Being Nurtured] (thoasa, 2022), won the 28th Nakahara Chuya Prize. She is one of the leaders of the “kohonya honkbooks” practitioner art collective. 小磯洋光（Hiromitsu Koiso）

東京生まれ。イースト・アングリア大学大学院で文芸翻訳と創作を学ぶ。『現代詩手帖』やPOETRYに詩を発表しているほか、アン・カーソン、テジュ・コール、グレイソン・ペリー、オーシャン・ヴオンの作品を日本語に翻訳している。イギリスの文学雑誌『Wasafiri』102号（日本文学特集）では、共同ゲスト編集者を務めた。2024年には、全米日系人博物館の第1回「渡邉利三デモクラシー・フェローシップ」に選ばれている。現在、ブライアン・ワシントンの小説『メモリアル』を日本語に翻訳中。

Born in Tokyo, Hiromitsu Koiso is a Japanese literary translator and poet, based in Tokyo. He holds an MA in Literary Translation and an MA in Creative Writing (Poetry), both from the University of East Anglia in the UK. Writing in both English and Japanese, his poems have been published in journals such as POETRY (US) and Gendaishitecho (Japan). He has translated works by Anne Carson, Teju Cole, Grayson Perry, and Ocean Vuong into Japanese. Koiso was co-guest editor for the UK’s literary magazine Wasafiri issue 102, which featured Japanese literature. Most recently, he received the inaugural Toshizo Watanabe Democracy Fellowship from the Japanese American National Museum. He is currently translating Bryan Washington’s novel Memorial into Japanese.

Corey Wakeling

作家・研究者・翻訳者のコーリー・ウェイクリングは東京を拠点に活動している。イギリス生まれ、西オーストラリア育つ。2013年にメルボルン大学で英文学・演劇の博士号を取得。2015年より日本に在住し、現在は青山学院大学教育人間で准教授として勤めている。モダンおよび現代の文学とパフォーマンスを主題に研究し、特にアジア太平洋地域を視野に入れた幾つかの著書や論文を発表してきた。詩人としても四冊の詩集を刊行しており、最新作は『Uncle of Cats』（Cordite Books, 2025）である。

Corey Wakeling is a writer, scholar, and translator based in Tokyo. Corey was born in England and raised in Western Australia. He completed a PhD in English and theatre studies at the University of Melbourne in 2013. Since 2015, he has lived in Japan, where he is currently an associate professor of English at Aoyama Gakuin University. Corey has published and edited numerous books and essays concerning modern and contemporary literature and performance, with a particular engagement with the Asia-Pacific region. As a poet, Corey is the author of four collections, his most recent, Uncle of Cats, published by Cordite Books in 2025.
